Langkawi Trip

Last Thursday, Ubaid, wifey & I flew from KLIA2 to Langkawi for a short getaway. By chance, my Bapak-in-law stumbled upon cheap flight tickets from Air Asia while browsing through the website. The flight from KLIA2 to Langkawi & back cost us only RM300. That's definitely a bargain.

It was my & Ubaid's first time flying on a plane & it's also our first trip to Langkawi. I was pretty excited.

As you can see, Ubaid was excited too. I've been told by many that Air Asia planes are quite small & cramped. "Macam naik bas", my buddy Ridhwan said. Well, it's true. The seats were not too spacy. No wonder oversized people would buy two tickets. Air Asia is definitely the last choice for long distance travelling.

The flight was around 50 minutes long. It was fascinating for me to see the clouds from up there. Totally mind-blowing. Love the new experience.

Our arrival at the Langkawi airport was greeted by my Kakak-in-law. Ubaid's mamalong. She works at the airport, so she has access to all airport areas. As you can see in the picture, she was there at the runway.

The first thing we did at Langkawi was eat. Kakak took us to Laksa Kaw Ikan Sekoq which was located at a beach near the airport. The laksa was so rich. Though the highlight was Ubaid playing happily at the beach.

That night, we ate ikan bakar, sotong celup tepung, kailan ikan masin & sup ayam at one of the local ikan bakar places. The food was quite good but Ubaid & wifey were really tired, so it was rather hard for us to fully enjoy the meal.

On the next day, we all went to Underwater World Langkawi. This place was awesome. There were so many weird, unique looking & marine animals there.

Next, after we all took a short nap, we went to the beach to play in the water! Well, wifey took that chance to get more naps. Ubaid was overly excited. He was kicking & hopping & running in the water for almost an hour non-stop.

Exhausted baby. After having so much fun at the beach, Ubaid had a nice nap to recharge.

Then we had dinner. Can't remember the name of the restaurant but the service was a bit crappy. Fortunately the food was good. Ikan stim yang sedap.

On the third and last day, we went to Langkawi Bird Paradise. Another cool place. We were allowed (even encouraged) to feed the animals. Bird feeds, fruits & vegetables were provided.

This part of the tour is the most exciting for Ubaid. The budgerigars & quail cage. These birds were very small compared to all the macaws & ostriches. So he had so much fun trying to catch these little birds.

This goat made Ubaid cry. It got too close to Ubaid, looking for something to eat.

Friendly instructors were everywhere to provide information & assistance.

Besides birds, there were deers & shy mousedeers.

Le wife took a chance to feed some crocodiles.

Lastly, we went chocolate & luggage hunting. Having Kakak as our personal tourist guide was very helpful since she knew all the interesting places to visit & where to find cheap stuff. Thank you Kakak. Thank you mamalong!

Then, that night we went home.
