A few years back, all girls in Ketengah Jaya wore tudung... Well, at least most of them... but today, this morning, I was surprised to see a girl wearing hot pants and spaghetti t-shirt, riding a motorcycle, passing by in front of my house... I was like, wow... that's definitely a first...
Hanging out with my former school mates, we joked around and discussed about a lot of things and one of them was about how the social issues in Ketengah Jaya has become worse over these few years...
The youths are now rude, violent and most of them ride motorcycles like they have a death wish... Not to mention, the emergence of different (horrendous) styles and color of hair... Mohawk, mullets, punk, emo... You name it... Back then when I was still in school, the most dominant style was grunge where most youth preferred to look either like Kurt Cobain or Radhy OAG, but now I can see people looking like the boys from Tokio Hotel all around...
Drug problem still exist... Ketengah Jaya was once famous for making the front page of Utusan Malaysia regarding the air ketum issue... Hey, some locals were interviewed for the Majalah Tiga show if I was not mistaken... Heh...
and I think, last month, Ketengah Jaya rocked the front page of Harian Metro when a video about two school girls fighting in the school surau hit Youtube... Yeah... Cat fight!!
One of my friends told me that our former school that was once famous around Dungun district for being one of the top schools is now being labeled as one of the worse... The students are now literally gangsters, rempits and bohsias... Shit... What happened???
A few weeks ago, the residents of Kerteh 4 (one part of Ketengah Jaya - which is also where my house at) were shocked to hear about a murder... The one who got murdered was one of my shop's regular costumers and also one of my neighbors... He got stabbed at the stomach and was left to die in an isolated shack in Kemaman... The police described his death as a slow and painful one... The suspects and witnesses have gone missing... Motive?? most probably jealousy (fighting over a girl)...
A big ass police station is now under construction near the school... We were hoping that once the police station is built, the crime rates and social problem will be toned down... though we wondered, will we still be able to ride motorcycles without wearing safety helmets after that? Hahha...
Getting pregnant before marriage is now like a trend... Pfffttt... Are condoms that expensive?? Owh wait, there's no 7eleven here in KJ...
With all the ugly changes I see, I cant help to wish that I can reset civilization... Despite the development of science and technology, most humans are still savages... What's the difference between us now than the brute cavemen? Are we worthy to be called intelligent creatures?? I know most don't...
KJ used to be a peaceful and beautiful place that I loved :-(
