Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

After a couple of months being away, I got back home to Terengganu and found that my youngest brother has OCD... Every night before he sleeps, he will always (ALWAYS) checks all the doors and windows in the house to make sure that they are already locked... and then double checks them... and if suddenly he felt uneasy, he will forcefully recheck again... It's kinda annoying...

One night, it was already late but I was still up watching movies on HBO when suddenly he got out of bed, and checked all the doors and windows... the windows in the living room, the back door, the main door... and then went to bed again...

I once read an article about OCD and it is a fact that OCDness comes out of fear... Fear of losing things, fear of being harmed, fear of being blamed and etc... I wonder what triggered my brother's OCDness... We never got robbed before... and he has never been harmed as far as I know... Maybe there's something I dont know about him...

OCD (in case u were wondering - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is an anxiety disorder... the symptoms are repetitive hand washing, aversion to odd numbers, opening and reclosing doors and etc (check out Wikipedia for more symptoms by clicking 'here')... basically all the repetitve doings... the acts of OCD may appear paranoid...

Well, not just my brother, my housemate, Ridhwan also have OCD... he was actually the one who first introduced me to this OCD stuff... and according to him, this 'disorder' is indeed a pain in the ass... like my brother, he always rechecks the doors to make sure that it's locked... and he also does other stuff...

My girlfriend is also an OCD... I noticed after I watched her packed and rearraged her stuff one day...

I think I'm a bit OCD too... at least a bit... Notice how I always end my sentences with three dots? haha... Is that considered OCD?
:-P

  1. Your brother is definitely has OCD. But sometimes, people don't have it just because of past experiences, it could also be hereditary. Maybe from your parents or grandparents ke.
