Since I'm now working, my weekdays are dedicated fully to doing work related stuff... Therefore, the only time I got to enjoy myself is during weekends... I've been having fun on past weekends... Here are most of the things that I did::
I had a movie marathon with my girl where we watched three movie - Meet the Parents: Little Fockers, Faster and The Tourist... Here are the brief reviews...
I've been looking forward to see this movie for weeks... Work have been pretty successful in keeping me away from the cinemas... That explains why I haven't been posting movie reviews for quite some time... Anyway, getting back to the point, Meet the Parents : Little Fockers was disappointingly not funny... Nothing actually worked - the jokes were stale and the story line was quite predictable... Okey, yeah, I had a few laughs, but the laughs were too few that I cursed the trailers for instilling such high hopes for this movie within me... Urghh... Though, there's a scene that I actually liked which is the Jaws parody in the ball pit... That was hilarious...
Little Fockers is the third in the Fockers Trilogy... Among those three, I'm sure many would agree with me that the first one was the best... and the last one was the worst... Even with such well established casts such as Ben Stiller, Robert de Niro, and Owen Wilson, the movie failed to shine as a comedy... but it doesn't even matter because they're still gaining a large sum of money since Meet the Fockers is one of the highest grossing comedies of all time... Well, at least they appeared to be trying to make it a better movie... I could see the effort even though it didn't work... Nice try but it was not good enough...
I say welcome back Dwayne Johnson! Welcome back to the action world... Yes, I had fun watching him playing baby sitter in The Tooth Fairy and The Game Plan... however, for me, the best role Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson ever played is in The Rundown as Beck, the bounty hunter... Boy, that movie was great...
In the movie Faster, Dwayne acted as James Cullen or the "Driver" who was hungry for revenge... The movie was straightforward... Simple plot with a bit of twist at the end and the action was great though a bit scarce... Faster showed the world that action is really Dwayne's forte as he's able to utilize his experience as a former WWE wrestler to deliver fearless stunts and fights...
The minus point of the movie is that the producers didn't give the characters enough time to develop themselves further... Though the pace was good, the movie seemed a bit rushed because the action parts were too simple... POWW!! Dead... STAB! STAB! STAB! Dead... the producers should've prolonged the fight scenes to make the movie even better...
Besides that, the rich adrenaline junky, "Killer", serves no purpose in the movie... Yeah, he's quite cool and girls love him for he's rich and handsome... but, he never did make an impact in the movie...
Overall, this movie rocks!
It's hard for me to decide on what genre does The Tourist belong to... It's totally not an action movie... I wouldn't say that it's a romance either... Whatever it is, it doesn't seem to work... The pace was painfully slow, there was no action at all, the romance parts were rather quirky...
However, I kinda liked it... Hmm... strange enough that I couldn't figure out why...
The movie depends most on it's setting and main casts... Venice was extremely beautiful for I couldn't help to enjoy the backdrop of the movie... and who can deny the fact that Angelina Jolie looked rather ravishing in this movie... Johnny Depp was awesome as well... I almost couldn't recognize him in the movie... I thought he was an extra playing decoy for the real main cast... His acting is truly brilliant... However, that was all to it... Other elements didn't seem to stand out...
I'm not impressed, but I like this movie...

Among all three, the best was indeed Faster... Even my girl agreed on that...
Another movie that we watched (but not on the same day) is Great Day... It's a Chinese movie and it's local... I watched it just because almost all reviews saying that it's awesomely funny and touching at the same time... Well, actually, I personally think that the movie's not that great... It has a lot of stupid slapstick and some jokes were forced... Damn reviews... Pftt... How can I support local movies when all of them sucks??

Not-so-Great Day |
However, one thing that I like the most about the movie is the beautiful backdrop... The green paddy field and blue skies... it really shows the gorgeous side of Malaysia... The movie made me wanna try traveling by train to anywhere around the country... It seems interesting...
Furthermore, the little girl inside the movie can act quite good...
Besides movie watching, I also had a few romantic walks with my girl... Lately, we have been traveling around Melaka with her car... It's convenient, but it's not fun... Walking is indeed so much better especially when u're in Bandar Melaka... There are so many things to see here...
Our walks revolve a lot at the streets of Jonker, the liveliest place in Bandar Melaka during weekends... Besides the beautiful dresses, crafty souvenirs, and fake designer stuff, the thing we love the most about Joker is the food... We ate at a restaurant named Ma Ma Cafe where we had two bowls of delicious Baba Curry Meehun...
Besides that, we also had the tastiest brownie ever at Calanthe Art Cafe which is also known as the 13 States Coffee House...

As u can see above, the brownie was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and two slices of banana... It was awesome... It almost tasted like heaven... Besides that epic brownie, we also had chips, and few hot drinks... Although the brownie is great, other servings available at the cafe are just so-so... However, the decorations are nice and artsy...
We also had a nice night walk alongside Sungai Melaka... It was really romantic... We walked pass by many historical houses and buildings... Besides that, they also have facilities for tourist such as "surau"and toilets, bars and restaurants...
The lights were also astonishing... Belief me, walking on the banks is better than taking a ride on the so called famous Melaka River Cruise... My girl kept thanking me for taking her there because she loved the scenery so much...
We took a brief stop at The Dutch Harbour Cafe for refreshments... The food there is quite expensive but they looked tasty... We shall go back there and have a taste... While drinking, my cupcake counted the stars above...
Then, we ended the walk by having a quick meal of Tom Yam at a stall beside the river... The stall is quite near to The Eye of Melaka theme park... The Tom Yam was good but the environment there was not that great because of the loud music played... Nevertheless, the walk was very sweet and we would definitely do it again...

We also went bowling... It has been ages since I last bowled... Therefore, I was not that good... Though I managed to get one strike, she still managed to beat me with such a high margin... Now, I had to buy her Seoul Garden after the Chinese New Year holiday...
Actually, the original plan was for us to have an hour of karaoke session... We never tried going karaoke together and I thought of just trying it for the sake of doing something new just for fun... But the karaoke place was full and thus we ended up playing bowling... Fuhh...
The rest of my weekend was spent looking for bags, shoes and other women stuff... Because of Chinese New Year, almost every store in Dataran Pahlawan, Mahkota Parade and Jusco Melaka were having sales... It drove my girlfriend crazy... Well, I managed to get her a couple of bags, a pair of flats and a couple of tops... Luckily, those stuff are cheap... If not, I'll be bald before the age of 30...
But I do admit, accompanying her shopping was fun... I got to see her going crazy trying all the nicest garments she could grab... I also like to look at all types of women outfit and shoes... They were all so colorful and quite quirky...
I also bought myself two pairs of khakis for work at Brands Outlet... It was buy one free one... Awesome...
I also celebrated Ridhwan's birthday on 21st January! My girl and I got him an awesome t-shirt and a slice of brownie that I gladly finished... We celebrated his birthday at Nando's together with Alief and Cedrick... HAPPY BIRTHDAY RIDHWAN!! We love u!
All in all, my weekends were fun... Well, I kinda need the fun because working can be quite stressful because of the darn paperwork... If I had a fun weekend, I wouldn't be dreading about going to work... Positivity yo!! Yeah, now I'm looking forward on what next weekend got to offer me... Yeah!
No, this is not my girlfriend... I took this from the Internet |
