Wolf Guy Ookami no Monshou

After searching for so long, I finally found a good werewolf manga... Yes, this manga is awesome... If you are having doubts about it (most probably because your perception towards werewolves was tainted by the Twilight series), then I suggest that you read a few chapters of it... You'll find yourself being drawn deeply into the story and especially to the main character, Inugami Akira...

Note that this manga is only suitable for those who are at the age of 18 and above...

Story
It is a story about a lone teenage werewolf, Inugami Akira, who are on a search of a place where he truly belongs in this world that is full with obnoxious and arrogant humans... Having high pride as a wolf, he refuses to "downgrade" himself by being categorized as human... However, due to certain events, he often found himself being stuck with human emotions and ways of thinking...

Drawing Style
The thing I love the most about this manga is it's high quality of drawing... The artwork is so detailed that I envy the artist, Yugo Yuki sensei, for having such excellent talent...

The drawings of characters and backgrounds are made as real as possible and most artworks are filled with dark colors... These are necessary as the manga deals with serious issues such as humanity VS inhumanity and belongingness and in order to highlight the main theme of werewolves - creatures of the night...

Action
The action scenes are very brutal and sometimes gory in a very awesome way... I love it when the artist drew the action parts as if they're in slow motion frames... Each character's movement are shown in detailed to provide a close up of the super strength and speed that they all possess...

Romance
Yes, romance... However, it is not as typical as the one that has been shown in Twilight... In the acts of defending his wolf pride, the main character, Inugami found himself being adored by various types of women... However, among all of them, only one is able to remain in his heart which is Miss Aoshika, his teacher... Hmm... does that trigger your interest??

Heavy Issues
Humanity VS inhumanity - It is an irony to know that humans can be more inhuman than beasts... We can prove that by looking at the history of civilization... Genocide, rape, murder, torture... All are committed by humans...

Superiority - Though werewolves have unmeasurable strength, they prefer to live peacefully... However, humans see them as a threat and try to obliterate them... This forces the werewolves to seldom show their dominance in power... Which one will be proven as more superior?? Humanity or Monstrosity?

Heroism - Who can we consider as a true hero? Is it the one who heartlessly slays the enemies or the one who protects the weak?

Rape - it doesn't just come in physical and sexual forms...

Those are issues that I come up based on my own interpretation on the story... This manga sure got me thinking... But, the heavy issues present in this manga can also be drawback as they complicate the whole story...

All in all, this manga is a really good manga... Here are some positive comments on the manga that I found on the Internet:-

Emo werewolf----check. Teacher with absolutely gigantic breasts to the point of being grotesque, I keep thinking "Her shoulders must hurt. Don't they have breast reduction in Japan?"---check. 14 year old villain who looks like he has smoked two packs unfiltered Camels a day for the last 50 years----check. What's not to like?

If you liked Berserk, then you would be sure to like this.

Yes this one will be hard to swallow for shojo lovers . And yes it have a lot of pages just for the gore but they are not meaningless actually it is opposite all of that helps to create a certain type of mood . What mangaka wanted to show is a corrupted world were most of the people just think about them self . And those few who actually try to help others meat an unfortunate fate ( not all that different from a world we are living in isnt ?). What most of the people complain about is that it becomes very dark . All i can say to that is this manga was made by creators of Akumetsu so what where you guys expecting to get a second Naruto ? And one last thing this manga is about psychological changes in human minds so you wont find a story with many twists or many new characters appearing to keep manga popular . Creators of this manga never made a manga who would be a mainstream hit nor did they try . Take that in to consideration before you start reading this peace of art.

Looks convincing enough? Try reading it!
