Last Sunday, at Tesco Cheng, I saw a woman slapped her baby... The baby was about 10 - 11 months old and he was crying while being held by the mother... The woman first shook the baby and yelled at him to stop crying... but the baby refused to stop and kept on wailing... Then, she slapped him on the cheeks... Multiple times... The baby gave out a fight by slapping back... It almost appeared as self defense... However, the baby's arms were small and weak... Instead of inflicting pain, his struggle only made the mother angrier... 

Before she tried hitting him again, I approached and told her to stop...

"Makcik, baby pun nak tampar ke? Kesian dia..."

She burst out on me in anger...

"Kau apa tahu?? Jangan campur tangan hal orang!"

It made me furious...

"Kalau makcik tampar dia hari - hari, besar nanti dia jadi bengap macam makcik jugak... Dia pulak akan tampar makcik...", I said while trying to keep my cool... 

Before she let out another rage attack, an old woman came to her and took the baby away... I assumed that she's the grandmother of the baby... She tried to calm the baby down and it worked... The cruel woman just watched the old woman and the baby with an angry expression on her face... I wondered what's her problem... 

Now, I'm not a baby expert as I'm not yet a father... but I raised my two younger brothers when they were babies... I put them to sleep (literally), changed their diapers, took them for a walk and entertained them... Mother was always busy doing chores, so I had to take care of them for her... Well, I didn't really mind because it gave me an excuse to skip Sekolah Agama... In fact, I enjoyed it... Therefore, I sort of know (or knew) a few ways to shut a baby up... and slapping is not one of them...

Seriously, if u don't want to take care of your babies, why bother making them in the first place... It's because these kind of makciks are stupid... They know shit about family planning... Tau main je... Dapat anak, taknak jaga...
