A couple of weeks back, I got a quite a scare when I received the news about my father being hospitalized... The doctor suspected that he had dengue fever... Hearing the word 'dengue' numbed my whole body... I wasn't really sure on what to expect and prayed so hard that he would be okey...
I felt better though after I went to see him at the hospital as soon as I heard the news... His temperature was soaring but he was still able to converse and walk around a bit... It gave me an impression that the illness was not really serious...
On the next day, I sent him some food because lets face it, hospital food sucks... It was a big relief to know that his temperature decreased overnight... The treatment seemed to be working... Thank God
What I found funny was he was literally surrounded by friends... A few of our neighbours were also in the same ward because of various illnesses and were placed around him... At least he had people to interact with...
It was very amusing that so many of our neighbours came to visit him...
Anyway, because of my father, the whole neighbourhood was raided by officers from Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Dungun... They went from house to house to check for mosquito larvae...
My mom was wise enough to clean the house before they came to check... However, a few neighbours were not so fortunate... Larvae were found in their area and therefore they were fined... How much I'm not so sure... Boy, they must hate my dad...
The search was really thorough... They checked everything from coconut shells to old tyres...
After that, they fogged the neighbourhood with mosquito repellent...
I really hope that they would do more of the spot check and fogging because seriously, mosquitoes are many at my area...
The good news was, dad went out of the hospital a few days later as the doctor confirmed there were no more virus found in his system...

Some people attract more mosquitoes than other people... I'm one of them! They could be a group of 5 people and the mosquitoes goes for me more than the other 4! So I freaking hate mosquitoes.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that there are different types of fogging. After sometime, mosquitoes get immune to a certain type of fogging so the authorities better make sure they constantly change the type of fogging.
