While blogwalking a while ago, I found that there are so many crappy blogs out there with hundreds or billions of followers... I don't get why people would want to follow them because they're not that interesting to read and some are unreadable for the templates are all messed up and the fonts that they use are really small... There are also many blogs that autoplay music... It's extremely annoying... Based on my observation, there are a couple of ways to get people to follow your blog...

The first one is by asking them to follow your blog by leaving comments on their entries... I stumbled upon comments like - 

"Hey, nice post! By the way, I've followed your blog... can you follow mine?" 

and 

"Hi, just blogwalking here... be generous and follow my blog ya!" 

and

"Follow my blog..."

I dont know about u guys, but I think it's rather impolite to leave comments like such... It's insincere... If I got those kind of comments, I would delete them... I want people to follow my blog because they like the stuff that I write or they think that my blog is interesting... and not because I ask them to... 

Another way to get followers is by holding contests... 

 For example, 

The Christmas Hat Contest!!!

Send me the best picture of you wearing a Christmas hat and win great prizes!! 

In order to enter this contest, u must first FOLLOW my blog... yada yada yada

This is a smart and sleek way to get followers... 

Well, every contest has its own rules and regulation... 

So, I think it's not wrong or impolite to do this... 

Those are based on my observation... 

Below are some useful tips on how to get people to follow your blog that I got from the Internet...

Your blog must have good readable content,
easy accessibility,
a readable template...

or

U can use business cards with your info and give them to people...
Marketing in other forums and social networks. (Facebook - Networked Blogs, etc.) also works...
 Post your link in as many places as you can: social networking sites, blog directories, search engines, forums, etc. Ping your blog to make sure directories have updated information.

Remember to work on your blog either by writing or marketing daily...

Most importantly, write about what people would be interested in reading...
