Megamind & The Social Network

I went to watch MegaMind with Alief a couple of weeks ago... Before we entered the cinema, my cupcake told me that her brother told her that the movie was insanely funny... So I was rather excited to see it...

Well, after watching, I thought the movie was just okey... So, I was quite disappointed... It wasnt as mind blowing as being described by my girlfriend's brother...

I'm not saying that MegaMind sucks - it's actually a good animation because it managed to win some laughs as most scenes were filled with gags and jokes... I would agree to the fact that it's at par with the Shrek series...

But the thing is, I'm not a fan of the Shrek series...

I also felt that Will Ferrell was not being himself in the movie because I didn't see his typical nonsensical rambling and the movie was rather intelligent... I was like, "is that really the voice of Will Ferrell??"... However, Brad Pitt and Tina Fey lived up to expectations as they managed to do the voices really well... Jonah Hill was also kinda good...

The only animation that managed to impress me so far is How to Train Your Dragon... Like what Adi said - that animation is unbeatable...

It made me think that it's so damn hard to find a movie that can really satisfy me... Sigh...

Then, Ridhwan gave me a copy of The Social Network... He downloaded it... He said that it was freakin good... I told myself that I shouldnt rely on people's comments because different people have different taste in movies...

Actually, I never did want to watch The Social Network... Why would I want to watch a movie about a rich geek?? I expected it to be boring... However, out of boredom, I watched it anyway...

Ridhwan was totally right... The Social Network is AWESOME!!

I love the movie because it played with my emotions... The best scene is when Eduardo (Mark Zuckerberg's best friend) felt betrayed and smashed Mark's Macbook into pieces... If I was Eduardo, I would totally do the same thing...

The movie's fast pace also contributes to its success... While watching, before I got the chance to get bored, I was bombarded with scenes that required me to focus in order to grasp what is actually happening... I really couldn't get my attention off the movie because if I missed even a single word that the characters were saying, I would have to rewind and hear that particular word again in order to get a tight grip of what they were talking about...

It's fuckin great! and it satisfied me...

  1. MM was quite ok..u're being too harsh on it..the only lack that it has is that the story line was too straight-forward..no surprises at all..but it was decent enough for family (the target audience)
TSN was rather boring for me..it requires the viewers only to have good listening skills..it did not make me think..i just sat in front of my lappy and listened to people talking for two hours..did not touch my emotions at all..at least MM made me laugh..TSN is nowhere near the standard set by buried (in terms of playing with emotions)
but..like u said..diff people come with diff views..and this is only an honest comment from me :)
