Yesterday, Alief, Kimi and I went to watch the movie Unstoppable... At first, "Hmm... A movie about a runaway train... Sounds like another typical disaster movie for me...", I thought... Though it receives many good reviews, I was rather reluctant to see it... However, out of boredom, I went anyway...

The movie was really good!!

This movie is not about extraordinary people or superheroes saving the world... It's about common and ordinary people like us doing what they thought was right in dealing with real problems that can possibly happen anytime in real world (It's based on a real story too... Totally realistic...) It shows us how normal people can achieve great things if armed with a set of skills, bravery and determination... 

The strongest point of the movie lies in its casts... Owh boy, Denzel Washington sure knows how to act and rock a movie... He managed to convince the audience that he's really an expert in trains... This is his second movie about trains - the first was The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009)... Chris Pine also delivered an astounding act in portraying a troubled yet determined rookie... Rosario Dawson added more ingredient to make the movie better with her act as a sharp and dedicated railway manager... 

For your information, Tony Scott, the director for this movie also directed The Taking of Pelham 123... I guess he really likes trains... He did great in making this movie exciting... At the beginning, he showed the audience the family conflicts that the two main characters, Will Colson (Pine) and Frank Barnes (Washington), had but clever enough to avoid elaborating them by taking the audience straight to the source of the train problem and thus, keeping the audience interested... I should say that the pacing of the movie was like the movement of a train - slow at the beginning but then it got faster and faster by the minute... The action scenes were tense especially at the part where Will Colson got his leg injured... The movie was so full with suspense, it excited me... 

I love the way Tony Scott illustrated how powerful the runaway train was by letting it smashed into a truck and some cargo containers... it added the suspense as it let the audience know the terrible consequences if it collided with another train or accidentally derailed into a populated area... He was successful in making the audience believe that the train was truly unstoppable...  

Love it...
