"Aaron Eckhart? Hmm... He looks familiar... Who is this guy? Hmm... wait... Owh... I remember... He's Two Face a.k.a Harvey Dent from The Dark Knight... Yeah..."

I went to watch this movie alone on Sunday since my girlfriend was busy doing her assignments in Starbucks... After watching this movie, I felt that my weekend was finally complete... The movie really satisfied me...

STORY
What first thought to be meteorites turned out to be extraterrestrial beings trying to take over the planet... They were fierce, intelligent and deadly... Upon arrival, the aliens immediately carried out their colonization by killing every life form they saw and thus, forcing the humans to retaliate... Watch how the humans try to survive by giving everything that they got in order to destroy the powerful aliens...

PLUS POINTS

The War

I regard this movie as a war movie rather than science fiction... It's because instead of focusing on civilians (like most alien movies), the spotlights were given to soldiers... Therefore, I got to witness the hardship that they went through battling the aliens and saving innocent civilians (and themselves)...

The battle scenes were superb and intense mainly because the aliens were such hard asses... One shot was not enough to kill these bastards... You gotta give them all... By all, I mean rocket launchers, grenades, tanks, jets... Every single fire power available... They were armed with deadly weapons which were implanted to their own bodies... Talk about dedication...

The Aliens

Like I said before, the aliens were bad asses... Besides being physically faster and stronger than humans, these guys were also extremely intelligent... They had leadership and thus, they could perform battle strategies and formations...

Besides that, their fire power was super mighty... Especially the unmanned air crafts... They rained fire to destroy everything that was on their way towards full  invasion...

CGI

The effects were astounding... The air crafts, explosions, alien weapons, and etc... They all looked real... Furthermore, I love watching Los Angeles got turned into ruins... The images were very detailed and awesome to see...

 Optimism

I somehow liked the optimism shown in the movie by the main characters especially during the last battle... The soldiers never gave up and kept on fighting as long as they could... I felt the highly satisfied when they managed to destroy the command transmitter because they really worked hard to get there...

MINUS POINTS

Portrayal of Emotions

The emotions that the characters tried so hard to portray did not leave any effect on me... Even with all the manly tears, motivational speeches, and emotional confrontations, I wasn't touched at all...

OVERALL

All in all, the movie rocks mainly because of the action and battle scenes... Not to mention, the great CGI effects also added some spices to the movie... It's truly an eye candy for me... I love it...

3.5 out 5 stars...
